Sept 9, 2003 First Day in McLeod-Angel Insights
This sun is out! A few people said it’s the first morning like this in a long time. I’ve already got my blankets up on the roof airing out and have fixed a small clothesline outside my room but I don’t know if it will work as there is no sun there. I did an experiment last night just to check…Left my shirt out of a plastic bag hanging on a hanger to see what would happen overnight. It was wet this morning!…anyway, now I know at least for the next couple of weeks everything in bags!
I just asked Ashish how long the sun can be expected to be out this morning….”Don’t know…today is first day of sun! Good you come to bring us sun finally!”…I am now sitting on the terrace-in the sun-eating Ashish’s famous muesli curd and fruit (banana, apple, mango, papaya) and drinking ginger tea nad honey.
I actually fell asleep dead to the world at 7:30 in the evening…and slept straight through until 7 this morning!!! I was actually rudely awakened by monkeys fighting outside with dogs! What a frightening racket-the monkeys won!..
Have already done my regular morning stuff and added “Om, Shanti, shanti, Shanti” as instructed by Dr. Chanrashakaran at the Desikachar (Krishnamacharya) Yoga Center in Chennai before my meditation. I’ve got my real nice pj’s which I bought in Kodai and these very very clever woolen socks with a “thumb” separate from the toes so you can wear thongs with them!
Forgot to mention that yesterday, as I was leaving the internet place, the guy here asked me where I was from and we got talking and he mentioned he has a girlfriend in Seattle and he is planning to go there and wants to improve his Enlgish…which is really good already…asked how long I was staying and when I said 2 months…he asked if I would be willing to help him with his written English by correcting things he writes…so without even going all the way down to Kana Nirvana, I’ve got a student…seems like a real nice guy and he was so happy to see that I actually came back today! Maybe other people say OK but don’t really mean it!…(The discussion actually started as he was quite surprised by the speed of my writing and says he has been trying to learn for several months but has no patience for it)
11:30-Beautiful HOT shower REALLY hot…like at home and then put my towels up on roof also to dry in sun and went to do my last errand before settling in. Buying books! By the way, the bed covering I got yesterday is really nice on the bed. When Ashish brought me my coffee this morning he was quite impressed with the “new look” of my room.
Bought several books which should last for awhile and then I can bring them back and get ½ price back for them…not a bad deal. Wild Swans, The Lamp is Lit by Ruskin Bond,The other Side of Silence by butalia, study William Rands Reiki book and was ready to leave being very pleased with my selelctions when “something” told me to continue by search in a far corner I had overlooked behind the check out counter and there I spotted all of Paulo Choelo’s books…What to pick? And my hand just shot out to “Valykries”…an encounter with Angels –“Angels , god’s messengers”…”The Universe is populated with them”…I have just begun reading…but all this after this morning’s meditation and “long talk” with my guides and angels and asking them for some direction or some sign for my stay here this time…and so they have directed me…I know this is exactly what I need to be reading now as some message is there for me…and I look forward to discovering what it is. I found myself shedding tears of joy at the wonder of the ways of the Universe and its workings and God’s initmate connection and concern for us. We need just ask and the right questions and we will be answered-if we bother to listen!
WOW! I am REALLY out of shape! My thighs are realy complaining about the ups and downs but willnow go up to Bhagsu to look for Akhilesh. Hope I find him. The sun has fled but it was nice while it laster….later….
3:30…Spent about 3 really pleasant hours with Akhilesh catching up on old times and seeing if the old chemistry was still there. He was so pleased to see me, as I was him, despite our past problem, and he commented that the 2 years seem like 2 months…and that I look MUCH better than last time he saw me. He says there is a glow about me which is wonderful to see…and of course he noticed I gained weight and that I have long curly hair…he looks the same but even thinner than last time if possible…his new center is really nice and he has a beautiful room which he lives in for 6-8months but pays rent for the full year so he can leave all his stuff there…stereo and music, books, TV etc.when he goes back to Rishikesh to rest for a few months. He works quite hard here. He also told me that there is a new train directly from Pathankot to Hardwar which makes it easy to get there now…so if it gets too cold for me here in November, I just may do that
We went down to eat a light meal together and continued talking…and then I left…went looking for a flute teacher…had a sample lesson but am not sure I will do it…I want to learn a front flute…hurt my shoulder to hold it to the side….and I guess I will go back to visit him again and promised to come down to McLeod one day for lunch or dinner…nice to have friends in far away places..
The flute teacher he sent me to when I got to the building was an ad for a flat to rent and a phone number so later I will call and get detials. I ws telling him my plans of trying to find a way to live here part of the year and he said many people are beginning to build small flats with kitchens for long time rentals and its should not be too difficult to find a nice place to live….so will eventually check that out.
Tomorrow Ihope to go up to Beit Chabad and see what’s doing up there…The walk back and forth to Bahgsu was quite easy despite the complaints of my thighs, and if I can make it up the back road to Dharamkot tomorrow, I have it made.
Anyway…that’s it for now…Great first day and now will rest the rest of the day…come down later for dinner…
