November 3, 2003-My Hotel in Bhagsu-Luxury at Last!
(Day of the Big Israeli General Labor Strike)
I have arrived in Bhagsu...sad to leave Kailwood but I am pleased I did it. I had trouble packing up as the bag is about 25% too small....I was thinking of getting a few small gifts . I had wanted to at least bring back stuff for the kids, but I cannot see myself carrying a third bag....but the small bag will save me money anyway as I had also wanted to buy another shawl for dress up for myself but no where to put it. I have not unpacked but must write about this room....it is REALLY nice...nicer than I remember it being. It has a CLOSET with hangers in it!-night stands and a real double bed with heavy quilt on it...2 REAL upholstered chairs in the room and a TV and it is a corner room with sun most of the day on a PRIVATE terrace! The bathroom even has a sink in a marble counter top and it is quite large...really really nice...there are also screens on the windows!, white marble floor and a FULL LENGTH MIRROR ON THE CLOSET DOOR!... This is the first time I am seeing myself, all of me, in two months!...frightening what can creep up and settle itself on your body when you are not paying attention!....I still keep thinking I am like I always was...bone thin and able to eat anything without a second thought! Well, time for second thoughts has definitely arrived.....I can also have meals here in the room if I want or out...nice restaurant nearby and I have a fabulous view of the mountains in all directions. I think it will be really peaceful and comfortable here for a few days...very quiet as well. Well, now do a little unpacking and if I am pampering myself, will even buy a roll of toilet paper for my last few days and see if I remember how to use it!...
I woke feeling my old self this morning by the way...even felt better last night...wonder if these bites I had the last 2 weeks had something to do with my fatigue...anything is possible.
Just ordered what I thought was a lite lunch...veggie burger...well, the burger is larger than the largest super duper hamburger I have ever seen on a roll plus a large fresh salad with delicious dressing and french fries which are actually cooked all the way through and not greasy...I will no way be able to finish it but it is quite delicious and only 50 rupees....Someone else saw me being served and came over from the other side to ask what it was it looked so good...and he's ordered one as well....
Well, it is now 6 PM and came down to the internet place just to get this off....will eat a light dinner and then go back to my room....Guess what is on TV tonight??? Shrek!!! First time I saw it was 2 years ago here and since many times with my grandchildren as well as at home by myself...it is both funny and a beautiful love story...so I will watch it tonight on TV!! After watching "Raymond"...I don't have TV at home...so this is just another pampering thing for me and I am quite enjoying it.
So, hope the strike is averted at home and none of you suffer because of it....the weather is still beautiful here and hard for me to even imagine strikes etc....but before I know it, I will be back in the thick of things....
