Mystery of the Stolen Music Con't+Yeshi's Birthday Party

September 23, 2003

Well, this is just a continuation of this morning's but I am at a more comfortable computer and have eaten, and since the weather is so bad, there is nothing to do so I have decided to waste away the whole day and also go to a movie...The Hour with Meryle Streep and Nicole Kidman is playing at 3 so I have 1 1/2 hours to kill....I was told it is a good movie so will see...the ones I really wanted to see of course are not playng today just when I decided to go to the movies, but whatever...

Well, we finally pieced together the events leading up to and including the theft of my music...Ram, one of the guys who works here and had left the same morning to go home for a few days to his village, came back last night and he was told what happened and he said the same morning he saw a Tibetan guy come to my room, call my name and then I let him in. Now I know for a fact that that is not true so couldn't figure out what he saw...but he was adamant about it being true...then I remembered (well, actually I remembered it sooner but never thought, or slightly thought, that there was a connection)...the day before, in the afternoon, a Tibetan fellow had come to my room, knocked on my door and when I let him in said he came to deliver the necklace I had bought that morning...I explained he was mistaken and he asked "what's your name" and saw no reason not to tell him and said "Jane"...he apologized for the mistake and went on his way, assumingly to find the lady who had bought the necklace....

Of course, I am sure he noticed the MP3 on the bed with the speakers when he was there, and although I don't think he originally came around to "case the joint" as others seem to think here, I think he saw an opportunity at the moment and decided to see if he could do something about it. So next morning, or perhaps all day and night, who knows, he waiting within eyesight for me to leave and not lock up etc.,,,...then, in the morning, what Ram saw was him coming to the door, calling my name (this is why Ram assumed I knew him and did nothing...just thought he was a friend coming to visit) and when I did not answer , he was assured no one was in the room, came in, took the stuff and left....

Thing is, Ram says if he sees him again he will recognize him, so maybe there is still a chance, but the truth of the matter is, I get a slight stab of pain every once in awhile but basically am doing just beautifully in the silence....

Sunday, the little girl upstairs named Yeshi...mother swiss father tibetan, was 3 years old and they made here a little party...I was invited and it was quite nice being at a regular thing with regular people instead of with tourists for a little while... "Regular" may not be the correct word for the people here as they are far from being regular....the little girls' mother is from Switzerland and she lives here with her and her (the Mother's) twin sister...the father is tibetan but does not live with them. They go home, or to Goa or Thailand when the weather gets to cold here and then they come back....Also at the party was an Australian girl with her 1 year old and 3 1/2 year old son...her husband is also australian and they live here...he is studying to be an artist...they live down out of town and have been there for I think 1 1/2 years and are now taking a break and going to rest for 6 months in Australia...very nice woman and lovely mother to talk to about natural child raising...quite sweet...then there was another swiss lady with 2 small boys, one about 2 and one 4 I guess who reminded me of Amit with all his boundless boy energy just not being still for one minute up on the roof etc....but both her sons were tibetan looking and later their father turned up also...don't know what his and her relationship is, but he also seemed very sweet and loving with the boys...then their was a tibetan lady there with her 10 month old baby...soooooooooooooo cute....but couldn't speak to her...she didn't speak english...and then of course Kelly and Klaske....it was quite an enjoyable and interesting couple of hours...also great chocolate cake and Lay's American style cream and onion potato chips which I now know are available here...yummyyy.....although as I mentioned, all my eating habits seem to be changing and never feel like dessert or noshing...really strange for me.

So, those are the rest of the stories...ah...this morning thought I had lost my notebook but finally found it...I was almost frantic as all my important notes are in there as well as lots of stuff I haven't written yet...will have to do it one day...

My shoulder is paining again...I am getting quite worried about it but last night I used the hot water bottle the physiotherapist leant me...also in the afternoon, and the pain in lifting seems to be less...I have to go back to him in one week but he thinks it is basically a matter of time...but definitely sure it is a ligament in my shoulder...

So, I will end for now....maybe just do some surfing for a change to kill time...no energy to go up to the guesthouse and come back down again...everyone here is feeling quite lethargic, with no energy...must be the weather..

Bye for now...Jane
