November 6-7 2004 (1)

Sunday, November 7th,
Well, yesterday was one of those amazing days that happens when you least expect them to when in India. Without planning, I went with a group of people to see the nun I had told you about who I read a book called "Cave in the Snow" who spent all those years in her himalayan retreat along in a cave?
Well, I will shortly tell you what happened personally to me yesterday but first just some "regular stuff to send off...
I don't mean to bother you all with this, but Ihave discovered a new restaurant (actually just opened 2 weeks ago) and for the first time ever in India, had real, true western food served in an atmosphere that is as far as from India as you can get (except for the fact that you still write your own order on a piece of paper). They serve real, true Italian food including all kinds of chicken specialties. I already had wonderful pasta 2 days ago and yesterday one clalled Chicken Florentine which was a chicken breast (shnitzel) sutffed with mushroom and spinach in a creamy white sauce and grilled to perfection...still juicy and soft and just about meleted in my mouth. Just writing about it my stomach is growling. And for dessert I had real, freshly ground cappucino and the best choclate mousse I have ever eaten. Along with the main dish came 2 side dishes of crispy stirred fried veggies and pasta in white sauce. The meal was the most extravagant I have eaten since being here, but could have been served in my favorite restaurant Capriza in Herev Leet and still been truly praised by everyone who ate it. And the whole thing cost me 15 (!) shekel!!!!
OK....just had to get that off my chest!
OK...Everything else I have to write I think I will leave for tomorrow, about my visit to Tenzin Palmo the nun, and just copy for you a couple of "poems" which came to me the last couple of days, and if I still have energy, some lovely thoughts I've been collecting...
HOME
Not a place,
a feeling,
You find it once and then have it with you always
It is mobile and goes with you everhwere
No one can take it from you
As it is nothing you can touch or hold physically
What is inside is yours alone
And you make it what it is
When youhave truly found the feeling - Cherish it!
It is a precious gift you have worked hard for.
LETTING GO
Release anger,
Release fear,
Release Worry
Embrace love
Embrace faith
Enbrace calm acceptance.
The river will take you swiftly along at certain points
And allow you periods of motionless calm
But the current will always be there to move your boat along
You may see places you would like to stop at
But the coice isnot always yours
Release into the flow of the river
And calmly and joyfully accept whatever direction it takes you.
THOUGHTS TO MAKE YOU THINK!
The most creative moments have often arisen at times when circumstances appeared most helpless.
If we fear someone we give them power over us.
So be gentle but don't allow yourslef to be trod upon
there are no fresh stars in life.
But there are new directions - learn to zig-zag.
Try loving your enemies - if nothing else, you'll confuse them
Life will always give us what we know we are worth
It never fails to take us at our own valuation
They always come so quickly those turning points in life.
And always down a lane we are not watching.
When a difficulty presents itslef - remove it at once if you can
For the longer you look at it, the less you will like it.
Bad times are good times to prepare for better times.
There is no dependence that can be certain but a dependence on yourself.
Before you discuss anyone's faults...
Take time to count to ten...
Ten of your own!
Enjoy all of the above....will write more later today or tomorrow.
See you all before you know it.
My love...
